Laura Ingalls Gunn
is an interior design and historical sewing enthusiast. She began her lifestyle website, Decor To Adore, in 2008 with the belief that everyone deserves to live in a home they love. Her specialty is sharing how to create beauty on a budget. Using techniques such as shopping second hand at estate sales, refurbishing furniture and reusing vintage fabric she has transformed several houses. Including a dated 80s dwelling that is now her cherished home, Storybook Cottage.
Laura has been featured in magazines and websites such as Romantic Homes, Woman’s World, Country Sampler’s Christmas Decorating, Martha Stewart and HGTV. She also hosts a YouTube channel and enjoys mentoring young creatives.
A huge history nerd, Laura often gives presentations at various historical sites and events. This was path that led her to meet several of the cast and crew members of the Little House on the Prairie television show. This resulted in her sewing over 20 replica costumes based on some of the most beloved characters from the series. The collection was showcased at several of the 50th anniversary celebrations.
When not scouring thrift stores Laura enjoys traveling with her husband and children, hoarding antique linens and vintage fabric, hosting sewing circles as well as enjoying afternoon tea. She adores dachshunds of all shapes and sizes. Her current sidekicks are a miniature dapple pie doxie named Grace Ingalls and Ponyboy, a huge shaded cream longhaired dachshund.
Upcoming projects in the works are a Little House sewing pattern line, a book What Laura Wore ~ Historical Fashions based on the Little House books and recreating Martha Washington’s inaugural gown to present at the 2026 National First Lady’s Day luncheon.
Some fun facts… yes, Laura is related to Laura Ingalls Wilder. Her great-great grandfather, Uncle James in the books, and Charles were brothers. She is a retired Air Force wife who has traveled to over 15 different countries and 48 of the 50 states. Laura can never resist fresh strawberries or a dark chocolate sea salt caramel. Her favorite bubbly water is coconut by La Croix which she insists on pronouncing with a French accent.
